What is the best time to buy a used boat?

Here is the deal. I have been looking for a couple of months, but my money was delayed until recently. Now it's so late in the year I'm basically buying for next year. I have cash and time but don't want to pass up a deal.

Opinions?

Now is the best time to start looking. I would think anyone selling now til spring needs to get out of the boat and you should get a good deal. Worst time to look is at the beginning of the season. Your timing is perfect actually.

ANYTIME!! If you're wanting, look. You can find deals almost anytime of year, especially in the used market.

I agree… now would be a good time to be in the market for a used boat. Aside from some posts re: selling due to gas prices… Some people with fairly new boats are looking to sell to move the latest and greatest models with the 06’s being available.

Waiting till a bit later in the fall or winter could save you a few bucks… but if you wait too long it will be hard to get an on the water demo to check the condition of the boat... especially if it has been winterized.

I bought my first boat over the winter with snow on the ground. I had a local dealer de-winterize the boat and do an inspection for me as well as a compression test.

Not sure how used you are looking for… but some demo 05 models will also be available this time of year. Good luck.
