we love our lsv but engine rpm's seem quite high. Around 4k pulling at 25mph. Top speed 43 at 5200 rpm. All my old boats pulled 25mph at around 2900 rpm. The dealer has asked Malibu and they said that this is right. The problem is my x-star went through around 4 gallons an hours fully loaded and this boat goes through about 8 gallons an hour. Has anyone tried a different prop?

You might want to list what engine your boat has as well as the prop & size that it's got (should be an Acme).

I just test drove a 04 LSV WS with the hammerhead and it was doing 42 mph at 4800 rpm, 36 at about 37 and 20 at 25.

No idea on gas.

I have a 2004 23 lsv and we tow at around 26-27 mph which is about 3100 rpm. Those rpms sound really high for the speed you are going. It it possible that your speedometer is actually off and your rpms are correct. The "speedo" toggle button to the right of the steering wheel adjusts the speed up and down. Try adjusting the speed to about 25-26 mph at 3000 rpm then see if that is a more correct 25-26 mph.

I used a handheld gps to set the speedo and calibrate perfect pass. My original post was wrong we are at 3400 rpm's at 26mph. With all ballast, wedge, 650 in lead and 8 people.

With all that weight I am not suprised. Check the gps when you are loaded with weight as well just to make sure. Also make sure your tranny fluid is full.

That sounds about right. My LSV sucks the gas when it is weighted too. We ride at 24mph @ 3000 rpms, slammed.

the wedge makes the engine pull alot or rpms compared to adding weight, 26 is probably the fastest you want to drive with the wedge down.

I run 23 @ 2800 with ballast and wedge. I have a 2002 WS LSV with the Monsoon and an Acme 537.
