OK I have a 2009 Transcend for my personal board and 2009 142 Pure for a boat board.
The Transcend has Answer bindings and the Pure runs Vapors.
Both boards are cared for exactly the same.
I ride in the briny and so have to deal with corrosion.
I load, unload, rinse and store all boards exactly the same every time and do it personally.
Both CWB bindings have heel locks.
The Answers show only a little initial corrosion and blistering of the anodized finish. The mounting dogs look fine. They are in what I would describe as average condition for the local conditions.
The Pure bindings are pretty much a ball of rust. The mounting dogs are really pitted and the heel locks are super rusty. Especially the cables.
It is obvious that different materials have been used, even a lower grade cable. As the boat board was bought off clearance at West Marine I wonder if CWB issues a lower grade product line for price point targeted goods?
We also have LF, O'Brian and Ronix set-ups with no corrosion issues at all. Granted they don't have all the heel lock hardware but the mounts are show little to zero corrosion.
Not really looking for hand outs or warranty, just wondering if there are two grades, or plants or whatever so I can shop more carefully going forward. Love the Answer bindings.
Thanks,
John
I don't know how to label the pics but the last three are the Vapor bindings, 2&3 are the Answers.
