So he tells me this the day after I sign up for the Navy. lol. I leave for boot camp on Jan. 18. So much for riding with him next season.

Yeah so his boat will be here sometime this week, I think. I'll post some picks if he says it's okay.

I went there Nov1 - Dec 30 of 1993. There were a couple days, that it got 50* below zero, with the windchill.

Our pants would freeze, while standing in formation.

I think he said he paid $52000. Less than 90 hrs.

The boat has alot of upgrades.

Motor
Power Wedge
Samson Tower
2x2 Tower speakers
2 forward tower lights
4 rear tower lights

I don't even know all of it. I'll talk to him some more today. And I'll have pics either today or tomorrow.

jesus christ man, just because one boat has one tower doesnt mean it is "theirs"! its a samson tower.

Erin: the tower is made by Samson, like jonny said. That and it just so happens that My neighbor bought the boat from a guy who installs Samson towers.

Old     (howakeboartder)      Join Date: Aug 2006       10-08-2006, 9:40 AM Reply
Sorry Eric.

tdc: yeah it does suck. This season for us is nearing an end. Water and air are both at about 60 degrees.

I'll add pictures when I can. Try to get some of wakeboarding behind it also.

Kenny, we ride at Lake Goodwin, it's off the Smokey Point exit, just south of you. So how long you been in for? Do you think I made the right choice?

11 years..
Depends on what you aretrying to get out of it..
Free college with no loans, I did.
great work, leadership experience that employers want, yep got that 2..

been around the world 2x... wouldnt trade that for any boring azz 4 year college..

I personally believe that the Navy is a greta way for people coming out of high school to get that important work experience, free college, and best of all a chance to travel the world and experience other cultures.

Trust me once you make your first cruise than you'll see how our media portrays things almost like Hollywood (the way they want you and expect you to enjoy the show). Most people don't have a clue to things outside the U.S. (not all, so don't start a flaming party)

Don't forget you can retire in 20 years and if you take advange of all the programs not have to actually work again unless you want 2 for the rest of your life! 18-38.. I will retire at 40 and enjoy life life without the boring azz job!

what career field did you choose?
Old     (howakeboartder)      Join Date: Aug 2006       10-09-2006, 7:19 PM Reply
I'm getting into the Nuclear Field (NF). Signed up for 6 years active 2 non-active. I'm really stoked to get out of Washington. Can't wait to start school either, Charleston, South Carolina.

So what is it that you do? Nice pic too btw.
Old     (ghostrider_2)      Join Date: Aug 2004       10-09-2006, 11:43 PM Reply
you got a a great future ahead of you...
so what SB you get 6k-12k?
The re-enlistment bonus for that field are up to 100k! I had a friend fo it last year with the 50% up front he got a check for 50k deposited into his account the day he re-upp'd..But that is the only carrer field with that kind of money...

The school house is on par with Ivy league schools. The Cirriculium is amount the toughest in the nation! In 2 years you only need a handful of classes for your BA.

I can go on and on but I will also so the Navy is not for everyone, you will see in bootcamp all the cry-sacks missing their girlfriends, moms, etc.. you won't believe how many spoiled rotten have no nuts there are until you get into bootcamp, which is so watered down you'll probably get bored..

I did my firest 5years in Lemoore,CA with VFA-147, then I went home (Sacramento,CA)for recruiting duty and ran a recruiting ooffice for another 5 years and now I'm up here with VAQ-130.

I work with Ejection Seats and the ECS systems (Enviromental Control Systems, Liquid O2).

So yeah it seems my life is laid out in front of me. I got 10k so sign on, pretty good, but I wanted the 12k, lol. Yeah the re-up is unbelievable.

School is supposed to be toughest thing out there, but I wanted the challenge and I really want this. You know what they say, "If you want something bad enough, you'll get it." or something like that.

I heard from a little birdie that boot-camp is a joke. Cant wait to go though. Should be fun. After all I go in as an E3. lol. I love this job already.

I just found out that all my interest rates on my credit cards get dropped to 0%. How cool is that? Also I saved a bunch of money my car insurance, and I already had Geico. lol.

Sorry to jack the thread, but I have been considering going into the national gaurd. Since I am in the corps at Texas A&M, I will start as a lieutenant. My only worry is not being able to wakeboard....

any service is better than no service, but of course I believe the Navy is tops..
