How do I get the hoses of the thermostat without cutting them? Any tricks to this, I have a blockage and need to remove the thermostat lines to find it.
Oh and the boat is an 86 sn 2001 with a pcm ford 351. Thanks for the input
They should have hose clamps. Take loosen those and then try and twist the hose back and forth. Older hoses get hot and kind of melt or bond themselves to the metal housings. If you can't break the seal by twisting I have use a flat screw driver to try and slide under the hose and break the seal loose.
Take them off the exhaust manifolds (should be easier since those fittings are brass and weren't painted) and twist them in both directions. If that doesn't break it loose, use a flathead to get some wd-40 under the edge of the hose. Let it sit for a few minutes then start twisting again.
thanks so much guys, ive tried before for the hoses on the water pump and they were stuck, but ended up being able to do it without removal, for this project i know i need them off (and i know the hoses on the thermostat have gotten hot) so the tips will be very helpful!
