I'm looking to buy my first board. What should I look to pay for the board and bindings? Hopefully there are some good deals out there. I guess I'm just lost as far as size of board...if there are different styles, and what type of bindings.

Are you planning on buying at a shop, or on the net?

You should be able to walk in to any shop and say you need a beginners setup, and they will look at you and your feet size and tell you what you need.

If you are planning on buying from the net, check out boards from O'Brien like the Oasis, Edge, and the Clutch. Of course, all companies will make some beginner board/binding setups that will get the job done. Expect to pay approx 400 dollars, give or take.

I'm hoping to purchase off the net. I've heard good things about the vero board. I'm 198 lbs with a 9.5 shoe size.

for about 250 us you can get pro level gear on ebay.......say liquid force substance 150 and hyperlite parks bindings for 99. Get the best stuff you can....you'll out grow beginner stuff in no time...plus I believe you will be safer in quality gear than entry level gear. Your board can be about 138 and up.

good luck

I would look at the CWB Pure or Flame, I think that is a great shape to start out on with plenty of room for progression, in my experience all levels of riders enjoy that shape.
