I just read the interview about the O'Briens new board company and I must say that they are on it. The wakeboarding industry needs this for sure. Kind of nice to know that you won't be able to pick up a Ronix at Costco! Paul, Herb, and Brian... props to you guys.

I know what board I will be riding as soon as their ready!

Quit kissing up just so they let you carry Ronix in your shop! :-)

I can't believe that nobody has mentioned the ad in WBM or the interview in Alliance. The name of the new wakeboard line is finally out of the bag.

When I talked to Paul a few months ago, I could barely contain myself... These guys are gonna do some wild stuff and hopefully tip the industry on its ear.

AND IT"S ABOUT TIME PEOPLE HEAR ABOUT THIS!

Ronix is the name of the new wakeboard company the O'Briens are at the reigns of... you may have heard it called "square one" or "radar" on these boards. Basically, the driving force(s) behind Hyperlite left after HO and all other watersports companies had been acquired by a single source... they didn't feel it was in the best interest of the watersports industry for everything to be run by one guy, so they left and started their own.

I have immense respect for this crew- their dedication and work ethic is insane.

Like Arun, I give them HUGE props for what they are doing... They have my support

I read the article and their ideas and goals are very respectable, It is great that there is another individual company coming out.
I hope they do well and stand up to the waterski monopoly owned by the evil Bob Archer.

RONIX

Why is Bob Archer evil? I really don't know. From what I have seen is people in the industry (board companies) were in financial need of some cash. Were there other people out there willing to put up some money to keep them going? If so why didn't anybody chose them over Archer?

Is it possible that if the board companies (Obrien, LF, Hyperlite and CWB)didn't have Archer to put up the money they would have folded. Would that not have been even worse? I am just asking, I have no idea who this Archer is but keep reading how bad he is when it may be quite possible he has saved the industry.

FYI.
If it were not for Bob Archer, there would be no Hyperlite. Period.

Carry on..

...As well as no O'Brien, and possibly no liquid force.

Bob Archer did keep certain pillars of our industry from falling, and I am thankful for that... I am excited to see some good competition spawn from this.

Bob Archer is in no way evil... He's a great guy, and realistically, he's just made avialable more product for us. You can thank him for Ronix too.. No Bob Archer= No buyouts= No O'Briens leaving= No Ronix!

I shouldn't say he is evil, that was wrong. Sorry Bob. I just dont like the idea of Hyperlite, Liquid Force, Obrien, Connelly, CWB, Proline, SkiWarm, Hardline, Kidder, Double Up, Blindside, and Free Motion being owned by one person or financial group. It takes some of the soul away from such companies and wakeboarding. Granted many of the same great people still run and have creative influence over the companies.

Point taken Tony, but soul doesn't always pay the bills. Obviously it's an expensive sport. I would bet it would be even more so if it were a lot of little independant companies. Paul and Herb happen to still have connections to the industry and as such probably can bring out comparably priced product. Not easy to do for you or I though.

Yea, where is Krown?
Old     (fox)      Join Date: Jul 2002       07-18-2006, 7:39 PM Reply
Well, since you asked, Krown has come and gone a couple of times. They are under new managment if I am not mistaken. The only real independant contender is Gator.

Yeah, where is Gator?

RONIX = The S#!t!!!! I've been lucky enough to get to see a sneak peak. That site looks pretty dope too, not much info but its on now !!

Gator is still out there, Look for them to make a strong 2007 comeback. The Filtered through some bad seeds and I think they have it figured out.
