I think they look pretty weird... kinda like my old Sims snowboard boots... can't wait to put my foot into one of those just to see...

I was about to say thats Daniel Watkins not Shawn Watson. I'm not really liking them that much but they don't look that bad from the side. I like the LF Alpha's better. Watkins o'brien board looks killer though!

I changed the subject to Watkins instead of Watson.

Here are some closer pics. I also just found out that the new O'Brien binding clamp system is called RAPPS: Rapid Adjustment Pivoting Plate System.

now the CLAW has some competition with the RAPPS.

never liked the claw system... now this seems to be a little more functional with the camlock and the fact that it follows the curve of the plate... still prefer the LF system on the transit and sphynx...

How original of O'Brien to copy Liquid Force with their RAPPS
Old     (jjakober)      Join Date: Apr 2002       07-28-2004, 10:40 AM Reply
Do you mean there use of an acronym to shorten a rather long name? If so somebody better get a hold of LiquidForce ASAP and tell them about NASA!!!

LOL...that's funny.
No, I meant copying the idea of the rapid adjustment plate. I guess all the companies have to stay in competition.

Bonnie, It's a copy of Hyperlite if anyone. I think it's great, alot easier to deal with than pulling screws and switching the holes on a standard baseplate.

I never said it was a bad idea, I think the F.A.S.T. system (LF) is great, although I've known a lot of people who have had trouble with the bindings turning when they are riding. I just said that O'Brien wasn't being very original with their new binding. I disagree a little about it being a copy of Hyperlite. Sure it's fast adjustment like the claw system, however with the F.A.S.T. system you don't have to worry about screws. You just lift up and turn your binding however you want it.

Anyway, I never said the RAPPS system was a stupid idea.

Sorry, that wasn't all for you Bonnie, just the first part. I just added my thoughts on what I thought of the RAPPS

wasn't concrete the first one to come w/ something like that? oh wait, hyperlite's invents everything!

by the way, it's tough to ask people what they think of the bindings based on looks. send me a pair and i'll tell you what i think of 'em.

ZIPPERS RULE! they changed my life, and will be the biggest evolution in the industry since bi-directional boards.

thanks J-Rod. I hope everyone will associate me with zippers for the rest of their lives. Except for the zippers on Rob Halford's pants....those are gay.

Joe,

Always looking to get something for free!!!HA HA

I was actually looking for peoples opinions on just the looks.

I think that once you put on any of O'Briens new bindings, you will like them, no matter what you think of the looks!!

Do you ever think taht they will turn wakeboard boots into like snow ski boots and make them pop of when you catch and edge?? I think if they could make it work right, youcouhld pop you boot into like a bracket then when you catch an edge it wouldnt hurt as bad then youjust pop the boots back in. Sounds stupid but with all the new ideas these companies are gettin it might happen one day.

Please tell me that they weigh less then the Hyperlite tanks that I usually ride with.
