I am looking to tint the windshield of my boat. Any help with how dark of tint?? I dont want it to be like limo tint, but something subtle, yet effective...

20-25%. For perspective, 20% very closely matches the factory tint on rear windows and back glass on trucks.

I just put 35% on mine. It does not black it out just more or less kind of smoke it. I have driven boats with more and if the sun is at your back there will be a lot of glare.

I did 20% on mine and love it. I wouldn't go any darker.

Thanks man. I love this boat! It is honestly my favorite boat I have ever had. Usually when it is time for a new one I am pretty ready for it, but I haven't gotten remotely tired of this one. I will probably revisit some gold in 2010!

Yea, that is by far the coolest looking MC I've ever seen.

Looking to do the same. I talked to someone who would do it for $300 since they said they would have to remove the windshield. Is that about the going rate?

Travis is your's 20% Need advice on my black XSTAR and if you think it's worth the money.

Mine is 20%, and yes it is worth it. I have talked about doing it for years and now feel like an idiot for not having done it sooner. It really gives the inside of the boat a different feel and it a lot easier on the eyes.

I wasn't there when they did it, but I don't think my guys removed the windshield. It does seem like it would make it a lot easier for the driver's side portion though.

i agree with travis, 20% should be perfect on it. i have an older x-2 with 10%(i'm pretty sure) which is awesome during the day, but if you plan on any night cruises you better get out your night vision!

Do they use a film on the windows? On my 99-Xstar
my tint guy didnt know if the windows would be removed or a film placed directly on them. He seemed to think there was some special process? anyone know what Im talking about? Thanks

They did my xstar for $125. Did not remove the window but looks great.

You should take the red out of the X star sticker and 25% tin.

Agree about Moye's X star. I absolutely love that color scheme.

Awwww dont knock a little red in the color scheme.... It just adds a little flair. Those MC's look sick!

Im taking mine to get tinted soon.... thinking about 20% as well.

Any of you guys with 20% have problems driving at night? I figure ill have to get above the windshield to see, but its not that big a deal.

I've been quoted $250 to get mine done from several sources. I can get my whole crew cab truck done for around $100. They claim the curve of the windshield makes it much more difficult.

"They claim the curve of the windshield makes it much more difficult".
and if they do a good job they'll remove the glass and tint it.

The only way to do a quality job, is to remove the window, and even then its tough to do. That curve is a bear. We normally charge $200-250 to do one.

Rahn, I've been qouted $300 also. Seems to be the standard in NC.
