Whats the easiest way to prevent fuel from being dumped in the cylinders when I turn over the engine to distribute the fogging oil? Its a carb engine btw.

The fogging oil should be run into the motor, thru the carb, while the motor is running.Simply run the motor at a high idle speed, and spray the fogging oil into the carb. bores. The general rule of thumb is about 1 minute of spraying per cylinder, so you want about 7-8 minutes of fogging oil sprayed into a running motor.

7-8 minutes? I don't think the engine would run that long for me to fog that long.

In the manual it says to take out the spark plugs and spray the fogging oil into the cylinders directly and turn over the engine, thats why I asked.

Either way is just fine. I prefer to fog until the motor dies on its own, or at least very close. Fog it, drain it, lube it...done.

Clear flood on pretty much every engine is full throttle. Take away the vacuum that pulls the fuel and you will not get but the initial shot from the accelerator pump. On EFI engines it is written into the programing, so that during cranking and full throttle it cuts the fuel injectors.

Most just use the fogging solution until the engine dies *shrug*

Merc has issued a service bulletin to not fog engines with fuel injection. Here is their recommended procedure. Upload

just curious, why does it say to not run the system dry of the mixture?

Running out of fuel can damage the fuel pump.
