Shoes? Something light that won't soak up a ton of water, and dry fast in the sun. I've been using some old indoor soccer shoes that work perfect, but going to use Reef Byerlys this year. Board? I was told to go big to help with balance and ollies. I'm 5'5" and 150+ and I started on a 116 Grubb. Liked it, but needing to go smaller to help with board control for lip tricks, so I'm going to a 107 Byerly or 40 Cassette. I would hook up with a good local shop and see about a demo or rental and try a few different sizes and styles (wood or molded, concave or flat, foam or grip tape). I went with the molded because it's lighter and more buoyant, and super concaved. Pickup Snap & Sfumato on DVD and you will be hooked!!! (Message edited by jamie lamar on March 10, 2004)
