It does movies and it takes nice pictures and it maxes out credit cards! Wahoo!

-1920x1080 @ 30fps for up to 12 mins (24mins in SD)
-built-in mono mic with mic input for external stereo mic
-video is in .mov file in mpeg4 compression
-when live view is on, changes can still be made to the AF, AF point, drive mode, ISO speed, WB. (Interesting that they say "in live view mode" and not "while recording movies" so we'll have to wait and see what can be done while recording video. I'm not holding my breath but ya never know.)

other stats-
-21 megapixels with a two smaller raw file options (10mp and 15mp)
-3.9 fps
-expandable to 25,600iso
-full frame

It appears it's using the original 5D AF system. 50D may be a better sports cam.

I have seen this motion picture of which you speak of and I have to admit... I'm impressed!!!

Will it replaced a HD camera like the HVX200? probably not, but having the ability to shoot with any of your 35mm lenses will be very cool and open the door to a LOT of possibilities!

not nearly as exciting as what's going on with Scarlet though

I'm all about the scarlet, but that fact that it has a fixed lens means you still have to use a 35mm adapter to use any of the f1.4, etc lenses. :-( Otherwise all the rest of the tech-specs look really good!

...only we no longer know what Scarlet's specs are (including whether or not it's still going to be a fixed lens)

"We have changed everything about Scarlet because the market has changed and we have discovered a lot of things in the process. We have a new vision.

Wipe you minds of the past announced Scarlet. Forget the design and forget the price. It is all different now. We think you will be surprised. Glad we didn't take any deposits... :-)

Jim"

I will believe it when Jim types it. ;-) Enough people have been asking about it so I'm sure they will do it..

Is it March 2009 yet?
