We are putting a pool together for our trip to Shasta in August. What are the prices now and what do you think the prices will be come August? This is very painful but I'm going to guess $4.19 per gallon.

I don't by my gas on the lake (I live 5 min. from a ramp) however on land it is anywhere from 2.10-2.40 for regular unleaded. As for prices in aug., I'm sure they will be even higher because they always raise the prices in the summer. Hope this helps.

$4.19 is my guess for August. I'm guessing our gas bill for our week long vacation will be over $600 bucks. Oh, well it's only money. John can you look the next time you hit the lake?

What are reg prices out in cali now? It all depends. I was going through Paso Robles and we saw a guy that said that off of the 5 freeway it was $2.50 a gallon. From what I have seen it is anywhere from $2.20-$2.50. It all depends on where you are and what the stoopid gas companies are charging. What makes no sense to me is that they ship the gas to the pacific Coast and do all of the refining, etc. to it there. And then they truck it to the middle of the country and it costs the Coastal people a lot more to get a gallon than the people in the middle of the country.

http://www.hunsakersports.com/shop/item.asp?itemid=3&catid=2 I got 2 of these off ebay. There not the easiest to move around..but 2 will completely fill my 25 gal. tank. I just fill them and lock them in the back of my truck w/ a bicycle cable lock. Then when I need gas I pull up to the ramp and drive the truck down to the dock. Get the jugs and gas up right there. Doesn't take very long at all. Then I can go fill the boat and tanks at night if I need to if we're staying longer than 2 tanks will allow.........and gas isn't too far away.

Move to a lake and install a gas tank. Premium is still under $1.50 if your not paying road taxes. Figure out how much it costs for your tow vehicle and gas while towing. For me it worked out better to sell the truck and stop pulling the boat to the lake. The added bonus is a truck sitting by a lake never appreciates--but house on the other hand is a whole different story...

Yes, but that is for the price of petrol, and we use gas over here. Good thing our stations don't sell petrol, or are they learning the can get more for petrol, so they decided to switch over hence the higher prices?

Guys try this... 6 gallon gas tanks at wal-mart cost $4.50. If you buy 7 of these you will have enough gas for a 42 gallon gas tank on your boat. $28 for 7 plastic gas tanks. Not only that buy if you store the tanks on your boat you will also have extra ballast. Just an idea.

FP- I didn't get a chance to go out yesterday and check prices, too much work. Looks like Richard has the right idea however. By calling around, they may think that they are loosing business because of gas prices. Couldn't hurt to try. There have been some good ideas on how to combat the gas prices, but I'm a little unsure about using 72 gallons of gas as an extra ballast. I'll keep an eye out for the prices over the summer and keep you updated on this thread. J

Ok I got my imperial gallons and the exchange rate wrong. Petrol at a garage on eastern avenue Romford currently between £0.86 and £0.97 a litre. So its between £6.88 and $7.76 Still its worth paying to live in a country with such low taxes and great weather!

Howdy, I was looking for info on a better gas can as we us 5 gallon plastic containers to haul gas to our boat when we are on vacation. I found some interesting info on filling plastic or metal gas cans that I thought y'all might be interested in. http://www.kron4.com/Global/story.asp?s=%20%201314545 and http://www.pei.org/FRD/gascan.htm. It appears that static electricity is causing explosions. After reading this, I am going to take precautions when re-fueling and filling 5 gallon container. It would be a shame to tourch my boat and tow vehicle, but it would be devestating if my family was in the vehicle when it happened. We have little kids in car seats that might not make it out. Let's be careful out there!

Yeah..the moral of the story is to make sure you take the cans out of your vehicle and fill them when they are ON the ground.. ESPECIALLY if you're using metal gas cans. The info about getting in and out of your vehicle causing fires was news to me! Thx for posting the article.
