Most of just use bridged 4 channel amps because it's the easiest way to get more than 250 watts per side to the tower. Crossover... Electronic: pros - easy to adjust XO point and attenuation, eficient; cons - requires sperate amplification for the tweeter, requires additional wires in the tower wiring harness, limited slope control, more cost. Passive: pros - Allows infinite capabilities for slope, attenuation, and management of the signal going to the speaker, cheap (once you get it right), less amplifier channels, less tower wireing; cons - changes require component changes to make setpoint changes, requires you to do some math, requires you to take measurements or trust the speaker manufacturer, requires wiring and assembly skills.
