My dealer has the latter of the two in stock, however, he can not tell me the advantages/disadvantages between the two.

Can any of you offer some first hand experience between the two? It will be going on an '06 X1.

Thanks for your help.

Hey Ryan,
Check with Eric at OJ props ( http://www.ojprops.com/ toll free 1.800.359.9730). Give him a call or look him up at tmcowners.com

Oh...here's a write-up I did on my tests.

You want the 14.25x14.5 if you have the MCX in your X1. I just upgraded my boat with 2 750 Fly High's in the back and with that prop, I'm only turning 200 more RPM's at 23.5 mph with a lot more weight.

Yah, I do know that the 14.25 x 14.5 is a great prop . . . I'm not sure how it compares to the 14.25 x 14.0. Paul's comparison is good, as I now have the 13.7 x 17.

Hey Paul, do you recall much fuel consumption difference between the 13.7 x 17 and the 14.25 x 14.5, when the boat is loaded? How about you Byrd? The last time we wrote about this, your prop and ballast were new. I am running the 310 Horse engine.

Ryan,
I'm running the same engine. Honestly, I don't recall fuel consumption. Basically, it is what it is, but it hasn't been different enough (in a negative way) for me to say..."Whoa...I need to do something about this!" On one hand you are running a little higher RPM, but on the other end you are not struggling to get the boat on plane. Probably a wash when the day is thru.

EDIT: I'd really suggest giving Eric a call. He'll tell you what differences you can expect b/w the two. If you want something a little different, he'll might modify it. He'll probably even look at your existing prop to see if it made it thru the mud w/o issue. O/C I bought mine direct from him.

I second calling Eric. His customer service is second to none! Also, I have a X45 with the 6.0 and Eric recommended the 14.25 x 14.75.

I have the OJ 14.25 X 14 and LOVE IT! Rip you out of the hole no matter how much weight. I had at least 4000 pounds of water weight and 11 people Sat and Sun and NO PROB!

I have been doing some testing the past couple of weeks and I highly recommend the 14.25x14 if you are running any extra weight.

Travis,
Are you doing comparative testing of these 2 props? It'd be interesting to hear some details, especially since your experience carries a lot of weight.
Thanks,
Paul

travis-
did you switch back to that 14.25x14 after putting on the 14.25x14.5? and why?

I was doing comparative testing of the two on my boat. I have an 07' X-Star with the MCX. To be honest, you won't really notice that much difference with just stock ballast and people, but when I had all of the extra ballast(somewhere around 3500 pounds total) there was a tremendous difference in the hole shot as well as just having power during turns and double ups.
