I bought a pair of Ronix Kai binding before the summer and i've been using them all summer. I never heat molded them to my feet when i got them but i really want to know. Are you able to still heat mold them even if they've been used for a whole season. Has anybody else done this?

great. What exactly do I have to do to mold them. Do I just stick them in the oven and wear the lining for 15 minutes or what?

if you have a local shop around that sells ronix then they should have the heat molding machine but some people i know have heated up a bath tub with really hot water and then put the boots in there for a little bit and then as soon as you take them out put your feet in them for about 10-15 minutes.

there is a snowboard shop near me that'll probably do it. Do I put the whole binding in or just the lining because I tried to take the lining out and I thought I heard something rip.

What are the pros and cons of heat molding your bindings. My friend said that you lose the cushioning if you heat mold them

DON'T PUT THEM IN THE OVEN!!! Take them to a boardshop that sells Ronix and they should have a boot heater. Snowboard shops have ones that would work too like you mentioned. The hot bath doesn't really get them hot enough to mold properly.
Chris, the 09 Kai's aren't heat moldable but the 08's are (I'm 99% sure on that).

Oh, and Sean, don't take the liners out. They are glued into the boot. The actual heater for the boots has pipes that blow hot air out. Those pipes go right into the boot and heat it up so yes, you put the entire binding on the heater.

the 08 kai's are, i think the 09s are not. LEAVE THE LINERS IN THE BOOT. Ronix boots are not meant to have the liner taken out. as far as the pros and cons go it depends on how you fit in the boot.

if it is slightly big fit, you actually gain 'cushy-ness' because the liner will expand and have marshmallow-like consistency. if its a smaller fit on you, the liner will condense a bit and you do lose a SMALL AMT of 'cush', but you gain support and response. if the boot fits perfectly (not tight or loose) then molding will not create negative results.

Overall, it relieves pressure points (not that there are many to begin with) and fills in dead space creating a more efficient and comfortable fit. There is no real cons that are of any significance, some people just like how they fit before molding that they never actually do it.

Thanks. I'm gonna look around and see if I can find a place that will heat mold them for me. I might have a hard time since there isnt a pro shop here and the only decent snowboard shop isnt great.
