I'm sure I could search for this and find it, but I know I can't be the only one with wax/polish questions.

My boat's an 07 Malibu, and it's time to to wax or polish it, as it's the beginning of the season, and I bought it new last year at this time as a dealer leftover.

Do these boats already have wax or polish (maybe both) on them? If they do, what's the best way to remove the wax (if it's even necessary) to put the new on. I've been reading on Shurhold and Starbrite websites that Polymer-style polishes over better protection and shine than waxes. I'd like to shine the boat up and then protect it with a wax. I'm pretty impressed by the Shurhold and Starbrite products, but any other product advice would be appreciated. Also, what is everyone using for a buffer?

Once a year we use the Mcguires 3 step cut polish and wax system for boats you can find it a West Marine it works really good and every time we pull it out of the water we use Babes spot remover and Babes spray on wax conditioner its really easy to apply and it makes the boat sparkle and shine. And another thing to keep in mind is get some micro fiber rags they don’t leave swirl marks on your gel coat I bought a bag of like a 50 from costo for about 18$. As far a buffer I like using the small 6’’ ones they are cheap the pads are cheap make sure you get like 4 or 5 extra and its easy to use them especially underneath they do take a bit longer because they are smaller but they are my personal preference.
