In Alliance mag there is a shot of Shapiro in Mexico. The caption indicated that it would most likely be the last pic in the mag ever of Shapiro. There was also a review of a Mexican Wakeboarding resort co-owned by him.

So what's the deal? Has Shapiro retired? He has been free riding for some time now. What an amazingly focused individual.

I'd be so stoked to go to a resort in Mexico that was co-owned by Darin. That place looked pretty sick.

I was wondering the same thing by the caption.

I had heard for the last year or so he had been nursing some low back injuries. His riding still blows me away, so much amplitude.

Darin is not retired, as far as the conversation I had with him on monday went!

He is nursing a back issue yes, gonna be a few months till he is back in the game but absolutely nothing was mentioned of him retiring.

As far as Mexico goes, he helps run the watersports/wakeboarding side of the resort, not sure about ownership though. They hired him on to get things going so he goes down their often when groups are scheduled. This resort (all-inclusive) is open to anyone, but the wakeboarding/watersports is additional cost. heres the link to the resort: http://www.acapulcogetaways.com/default.php

I do believe we will see Darin back in action soon.

KG, I spent the day with him a couple of weeks ago and he told me he was done, insurence reasons.

Bummer. I've enjoyed watching Darin for many years. I guess I will have to sign up for lessons at Ride The Spot to see him again.
