How big can a person be and Wakeboard? What size board would they need? I'm moving from a 190 Chaparral to a 06' Mobius LSV and some family members want to try their hand at wakeboarding. I've seen board rated for up to 250# and some boards say 250# + but what is realistic? Any help would be great.

Thanks,

Jason West

For a rider that is 250 or 250+ I would check out the CWB Factor 144cm this board should work fine.

there is no limit to how big you are. Its all up to althetic ability, determination, and patience. For Example...Jason Buffalow is one of the biggest riders I know of and he rips it. Backflips, tantrums, backrolls, you name it. Plus he knows how to teach just about any move out there. He is around here somewhere. Trust me dont worry about it. Grab the biggest board around and rip it! Take Care

Pretty sure Jason Buffalo is over the 250 mark. He does inverts. He breaks boards, but that's the beauty of warranty.

No limits

Would a CWB Graffiti 147 be a good Board for the larger rider? I found a good deal on one and I was thinking about picking it up to have on the Boat.

Thanks,

You should have him jump on this thing. What the hell is this? Liquid Force makes or made it.

I personally roll about 280-300 Lbs. I have rode just about every board in the industry for the last 10 years- all sizes. I find it is much more about rocker line, than size. I would recommend the era 147 or the LF 44 balance(no longer made) for the average rider. Than look at the Watson, Obrien demented and the new HL Drive. Once the new HL Drive(bigger size) come out, that will probably be the best big man's board, as the 139 feels great just a hair small. The CWB's I have rode are great, but tend to be on the bigger rocker line, which tends to be slower than I personally like.

Hey Jason - how big is the new HL Drive going to be?

Hey Kristian - you say that the State 145 has more surface area than the Era 147. I always thought the Era was a big wide board - does the State ride bigger than 145? Tell me about it.

thanks

David- Well the State 145 is quite wide. Lots of board under your feet. I think its like 17.1 or 17.2 wide. The Era is narrower through the whole board at like 16.8 in the middle (I'm only going from memory here). Personally my fav stick is the state 145 and I'm 6'1" and 180-190lbs. I got so used to the 145 that I didn't notice the extra length but loved the extra pop. So now I'm staying on the bigger boards. I rode the 147 Era for a while and like it on the cable but doesn't agree with me behind the boat. The state 145 just seems better proportioned.

And the Drive is also an amazing board(I'm biased though). I was begging them to make a bigger version in the first year and glad they finally are. You save so much energy on that board, there's barely any drag, I never thought about that fact for the bigger people. Also a great fact that you can edge in really hard and stay over your board makes doing huge spins a snap.

Wakeworld has the numbers:
Era 147 surface area 843 in
State 145 surface3 area 852

Now I know it doesn't seem that much differant but I sure seem the notice, as I said before the state just feels better proportioned. Again the best way to tell what you like is to demo.

Also, bumping up the speed will help offset some of the board size issues. I find that most of my bigger friends ride the standard boards, but they ride faster than the norm.

im 6'6" 200lbs and when I ride (mostly kiteboard now) I ride a 140cm board at 80ft running 24-25mph

What legnth and speed are other bigger guys riding at?

the 139 drive is out now. hey will have a 142 or a44 soon. The mold is complete.

David- I was wanting a 144 but I'm not sure what size they're actually going to make it, for sure it will be 142 or over. As bufalow said, the 139 is out now and you can try that to get the idea of the whole thing, they do ride a little big, I was riding the 138 prototype quite comfortably for a while.
