My old boat had (4) 6.5 tower speakers and they were pretty loud, and clear.
I am wanting something a little more for my new to me boat.
I would love to have a set of Pro 485's but funds wont let it happen right now. but a pair of Pro 80's are attainable.

Would the Pro 80's be a lot or a little louder than the (4) speakers I had.

The ones I had were Pioneer with a RMS of 50 watts each. I was pushing 80 watts RMS each to them.

IMO, they will be louder but only if you purchase an amp that does some justice for the Pro80's.

I have 6 pioneer 6.5 with about the wattage you have and I don't think it is even close to as loud at a set of 80's as long as you have the right wattage to the 80's.

^^Agreed with all the above except for the 4 6x9's, with decent power ( 150-175 RMS per) the 4 6x9 setup will scream

2 properly amp'd Pro80's all day long.

What amp do you have, 2 or 4chnl putting 180W RMS ea to 4 6.5's?

I replaced 6 6x9s with 2 pair pro 60s. The difference is evident for the rider as they seem to project more.

Another question.
The Pro 80's are 200 watts RMS.

I have a Profile amp that puts 80 X 4 or 225 X 2
It is what I powered my 6.5's with.

would that 225 be enough to make the Pro 80's sound decent.

I know its not a top quality amp, but its hard for me to put that money in electronics in a boat that might get wet, and die.
