Just boat a new boat w/0 hours. Do I need to wax it before it's first season?

No, and yes. I do not wax my boats any longer (I am a dealer). I use 303. You need to have some UV protectant on the boat and vinyl.

Wax works, but it is a lot of work. The 303 is a wipe on, wipe off affair and a lot easier. It also lasts our MI season. However, I do spray the boat down with 303 while I wipe off the waterspots.

The reason for the wax or 303 is oxidization - essentially plastic rust. Unprotected gel coat will loose luster and begin to "chalk" off.

Congrats on your new boat. I need a tow.
