Norm,

Here is what I am pushing my tower with at the moment: http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&product_id=12 0

Don't be fooled by the price and the size it pushes my tower very well, I would say comparable to a PPI 4125 in a smaller more efficient package.

Another option is the ARC Audio 1500 XXK if you can find the older 2 channel version, or if you are feeling deep in the pocket you could go with the ZAPCO C2K-9.0XD. All of these should run pretty well off the factory charging circuits.

Yo big worm, I would use the arc audio xxk1500. There an alright amp but deff. not for what you using them for. The C2K9.0 is super overkill. Zapco offers offers a couple amps that would be perfect. We can get them amps tweeked to match the towers perfectly. Arc 2500 isnt a bad idea either.

Lance,

I think you might be mixing oranges and apples? The reason to consider the Arc XXK1500 or Zapco C2K9.0 is because of thier high efficiency design mostly attributed to the combination of Tripath, class D and switch mode power supplies. This is the reason why I am running the Avionixx to my tower since it allows me to get by with the factory charging system. I believe the ARC 2500 is class A/B so it will consume about double the power compared to any of the other amps you suggest.

There are two problems with most tripath amps. One, the chip can fall out if the amp is mounted upside down directly on a sub box. Two, they are unstable 2% of the time so you may hear strange noises at low volumes at certain temperatures. I have been running Tripath amps for 3 years now and I am happy, but they are not for everybody.

Norm,

That Zapco amp should work great, but keep in mind it drinks lots of power. I put together a little spreadsheet that runs calculations for boat power systems (power guesstimator). Send me a personal message if you want a copy of the spreadsheet.

Mike
