Get the wake hull!!!!
It will give you a steeper ramp and the lip will have more peak. The diamond hull will be good for Waterskiing and will give just an OK Wake ( not steep ). The V-ride ( wake Hull) with stock ballast and Wedge puts out a great wake for most everybody without any additional weight.

would i still be able to ski if i got the wake hull, or would the wake be to big?

Thw wake hull still puts out a pretty decent Waterski wake. The transition is a little bit more noticeable but my friend who waterskis' said it was a pretty good ski wake for a wake boat

if you're trying to run the course skiing the wake hull probably isn't for you. If you're just skiing on occasion, it works fine. It's not a tournament ski boat or hull, it a wake boat. Even with the ski hull the wake is bigger than a tournament ski boat. I'm sure you can get a demo of a VLX with the wake hull, if they don't have a vride in, and see the differences.

I doubt he'd have this question if he was skiing the course. An '05+ VLX isn't on the same hull as the Vride (same as up-to-'04 VLX).

Regardless, any of them will be a better boat for skiing than pretty much any I/O, if that's what you're coming from. Get the wake hull. Resale will be better too.

I have a 02 vlx (v-ride wake hull).
I rarely ever ski, but I've found that 28-32 mph and 15 off is the best way to go. At 75', the wake was very tough (especuially in the middle, is that the table?))

thanks guys, im not really into skiing that much but i enjoy it from time to time, as long as you can ski behind the v-ride with the wake hull fairly well then im happy

thanks for your input, oh and also one more thing, should we go for the full ballast set up or the power wedge??

thanks

FULL BALLAST SETUP! It's worth every penny, don't you dare skimp on that bow option. If you don't use it right away that's fine but you probably will later and then you'll be trying to figure out how to plumb things in and make fit into the storage areas. If you don't use them, it just helps the resale value later.

Get it, it's well worth it, the wedge is your choice. I'd say get that too even if you're not a wedge user because it seems that everyone buying a malibu that's used thinks it has to have a wedge to pump out a good wake. Also, it's great for surfing

just out of curiosity, is there a cost difference between the two hulls if you are ordering one?
