Last weekend I pulled an ab muscle pretty badly on a W2W 3 attempt gone very wrong. My muscle is still pretty tweaked and painful if I stretch out the wrong way (basically if I fully extend my body/arms, and arch my back a little bit). The killer is when I try to land any kind of jump, and catch an edge so the board stops and I get pulled out away from the board, forced into full extension.

Naturally I am eager to get back out there (I will probably take at least a week off), but I don't want to hurt myself worse, and potentially end my season. I was wondering if anybody ever had a similar injury and if they got any relief/protection from one of those back support belts like you can buy from Bart's or Overton's.

Yes the belts help, I did the same thing as you and got back out before the pain was 100% gone, more like 50%. I got back out probably 2 weeks earlier and did not reinjure it while wearing the belt. It seems I am prone to that injury so I wear it all the time now and it helps. Last night I ate it pretty bad on a 360 attempt, caught an edge and did a pretty good whiplash face plant LOL I know without the belt I would have injured the ab muscle again. So I highly recomend it.

Plus it helps the lower back.

I use the Nevin one.... and I also have the weight lifting type too.... I use one every time I ride. Performance has them....... call bill and ask him which one he reccommends

Don't think that belts will help after the fact. Depending on how bad of a pull... probably need 1-2 weeks off. Be sure to warm up well when you get back to riding or you will do it again.

I injured an ab muscle this summer. I stayed off it for about 3 weeks (it was hard but I was saving up for our week's vacation at the lake) and it seems ok now. Haven't tried the belt.
