I know there's been a bit of discussion on both of these boards lately on the forum but I was wondering if anyone has had experience riding both as a base for comparison? I was also wondering about the sizing of these boards...there was a bunch of discussion in a previous thread about how the 56 Monarch stacks up about the same with a 146 Monarch. Does this actually work out? I'm a bigger guy (6'1, 200lbs) and I was just trying to figure out whether I should be on the 146/56 or whether it would be best to go with the 141/54.

I'm 6'1 180 I ride 09 monarch 54. I wouldn't go bigger than that. Board is super wide. And extremely light. Get the 09 if you can. Lightest strongest board around. No need to get the 56 that's my 2cents.

I would honestly go with the 146 marek or 56 monarch. the bigger the board you ride the more pop you get and the landings are softer.

So I guess the general vote is go for the 146...I'm just worried that its going to feel like riding with a log strapped to my feet. I'm currently riding an '07 Ronix One 137 and I DEFINITELY want to size up but isn't 146 going to be a huge step? What're the advantages of going towards the bigger end of the spectrum?

I sized up from a 136 to a 142 and I'm 5'10 145lbs, I don't think you will have any issues going for the 146. Bigger pop, more stable landings, the marek is so light anyway i don't think it's gonna make much difference in swing weight either.

I'm 5'5" and about 160 and I rode the Marek 146 and I also ride the Monarch 54. I like the Monarch better for the softer landings. I have never ridden a board that lands in the flats as soft as the Monarch for me. I am comparing this board to LF Trip, HL Murray, HL Tribute, LF Team, CWB Transcend, CWB Marius, LF Watson and LF Shane. Of all the boards listed my two favorite are the Monarch and LF Trip.

146 for sure because at 200lbs thats what you should be riding. I'm 6'1" 190lbs and if it were me I wouldn't even consider the 141/54, that would be for someone 165-170lbs not 185+. Most people are riding boards that are too small for them. Look at the most pro's they're TINY! people riding big boards. Rusty is 6' 200lbs and rides the 146, but I know rippers at 155lbs riding the 146.
You'll be much happier going bigger once you get used to it.

Dude I ride the Marek and its sick. Never rode the Monarch unfortunately, but I can say that I ride the Marek on wake, cable, and rails. I just take my fins off when I ride cable and hit rails, and it rides way better than I thought it would. Hope this helps
