Thats funny..in 1992 we were paying 1.15 per gallon.....Last yer the top three oil companies made more profit then any other business in history.

yeah im curious, if its all the barrels costing so much money, then how in the world do they make 3 billion dollars profit in one quarter. I really dont think its the gas supply i think its the intelligence supply that we have to worry about here. How long untill someone acuttaly does something all we have done is complain.

What can we do?

Pray that supply will pick up, cause demand isn't decreasing. Maybe some fellow wakeworlders should get into the oil business to give boaters cheap gas

Send Donald Trump to negotiate with those OPEC Bastards. Funny how our top two leaders are oilmen and the prices just keep going up and up. Supply and demand, huh. I have not seen any problems getting gas at the pump though. I can see how the supply has gotten low. LOL

One of my dad's friends works at an oil field in Alberta and he said it only costs them about 8 bucks to produce a barrel.

Dang, what ever it is I want it to go down or the oil companys come out with some alternate fueling sorce that doesnt pollute as much and is easier to crank out. Becuase this gas is going to kill us this summer.

Maybe we should look into like ethanol or bio-diesel. They both come from plants and can be produced just as easy if not easier. O well one day when the government finally realizes it, it will be too late and the stock marcket is going in the trash.... again. Hopefully it does not come to that but sill. There has to be something done.

i've been throwing the idea of running propane in my 4runner for a while now. its cheaper, at around a little under 2 dollars a gallon, and it burns way cleaner. the conversion is like 500 bucks, but everything i hear about it is thumbs up all the way.

We have a President that is a Texas oilman. WTF do you think we are going to do!

Are you sure that it was propane. Propane can get up there in price.
Old     (wake_boarder49)      Join Date: Jun 2004       05-27-2006, 9:07 PM Reply
Propane is cheap. I live in Canada and propane is always from 50 cents a litre to 59 cents a litre. Gas is around $1.15 a litre. So when you convert that we're paying more than you americans. But propane is the way to go, pretty much same milage as gas too, and cooler engine temps. Now ethanol would be good except that I heard it cant be transported by a pipeline which I still don't understand. Or you could always run your car on good ol' french fry grease.

I still dont see why they dont offer diesel wakeboard boats yet.

Leo, I think Session has a diesel model coming out this year.

Remember diesel is a petroleum product so untill Bio-Diesel is readily availiable it will be expensive as well. However, talk about torque!

Yea, Yea, Yea, gas is expensive. But lets face it if you have at least 2-4 people going out with you there is no reason why the boat owner should be feeling the heat. If so, find a new crew cause you ride with a bunch of leaches. No one ever said this is a poorman's hobby, and like most posts have confirmed. With China and India continuing to boom, worldwide demand isn't going down and there is only so much oil to drill.

As consumers and citizens we must tell industry and Washington (although it will fall on deaf ears for 2.5 more years) that CLEAN, renewable sources of fuel must become available and soon. Ethanol is a great option if industry will embrace it's production and farmer's will embrace switchgrass (one of the best resources for ethanol production).

As I step down from the soapbox I am on my way to put 40 plus gallons in my VLX, weight it down, and burn all of it before sundown, only to get up early and do it again tomorrow. I love this sport, and lets face it you can't take $ with you so spend it doing something you love.

stop with the gas thing i still go out every chance i get and fill up my boat with gas it holds 64 gal. at 3 dollars a gal. thats just the price we pay to be wakeboarders

Although it does kindof suck for the average american. I couldnt see how they would afford something like this. I mean for some people spending an average of 150-in some cases 200 dollars a day on gas it would add up quick. Some one needs to really jump on some other source for fueling and whoever does they will easily become rich. Although I dont think the gas companies will be very happy.

Well if you could just build a flux capaictor we would all be rich. The young guys probabbly wont get that

If you want the real answer, read anything you can by Tom Bearden. It's called free energy and it does exist.

The truth is that we havent built a refinery in 30 years and that there is oil all over the place that we cant drill. This has been the policy of the left for many years. Many lefties want the price to go sky high so that people cant drive, in their mind that is better for the enviroment. Meanwhile they take their private jets to the Kyoto conference.

yeah, you can really run propane. a lot of 4x4 guys do it to their rigs. Gotpropane.com is one site that has conversion kits for Yotas, but there are some more companies that make kits that are for more "on-road" use. It gets about the same mileage as gas, but it burns waaayyyy cleaner. almost no emissions at all. i just havent saved up 500 bones to convert over yet.

Now if you want to get into shelling out the big bucks... a Flux Capacitor would be AWESOME!!! but my 4runner cant make it up to 88 mph, so it would be kind of pointless...

im a canadian and i run propane in my truck. 350 chev and i get 27 mpg highway , bout 21-22 in town. towing my 05 lightening i get 17- 18 combined. burns cleaner, oil stays clean for half as long again as normal, and costs 55.9 cents a liter vs 112.9 for gas. down side is slightly less power,( i can switch to gas with a toggle), have to have a bigger tank that takes up back quarter of bed,and you do use slightly more propane than gas to get same amount of energy produced. bottom line, for me anyway, is much more affordable to operate.

Heard this watching Indy 500 - Next year Honda racing engines will be using 100% Ethanol vs the 10% as an additive they use now.

Also was sent a video about a buy that has patented technology that allows him to run an engine on water. Supposedly it has passed every Gov't test and the Miltary will be using it to power Hum Vees next year. 4oz of water goes 100mils.

I'll try to post it.

noti dad, please post that link I am a little sceptical that 4 oz of water can run 100 miles in a humvee.

I watched that vid and it was interesting however they were claiming a 51% increase in fuel economy in their hybrid. Not sure where the 100mpg on 4oz of water in a Humvee came from.
