paddle wheel on '01 malibu vlx

I have a perfect pass unit in my '01 vlx and I want to add the paddle wheel to it. I asked perfectpass about it and their response was that I should go with the gps upgrade because my boat's hull is not good with the paddle wheel (too much turbulence or something). Anyone heard this or had any problems?

placement is key. I have a 2006 Vride, same hull and it hold speed very well. Make sure it is opposite side as the in take scoop for the impeller and you should be fine. I know I have Malibu's speed control but my paddle wheel is in the same location as my buddy's 98 vlx and his is rock solid with perfect pass.

Yah, go check where the stock one is, and put it there. You won't have any issues.

I have a 2000 VLX and the paddle wheel works great. I may have a pic of the placement floating around if you want it.
