I’m new to the sport this year, but already love it. So far my experience has only been on demo boards from local pro shops. I’m ready to buy now, but I’m not sure yet what I want to throw my hard earned cash down on. The only boards I can find locally, Dallas area, are the big name manufacturers (HL, CWB, and LF). I keep reading rave reviews about these smaller companies such as Inland Surfer, Phase 5, Walker Project and so on. In contrast, the big three previously mentioned do not seem to be up to par.

My question is for those among you who have taken the smaller company route. Are you riding these boards before hand, or simply taking blind advice from others. I have a hard time throwing this kind of coin down with out riding it first.

I really enjoyed the CWB Tsunami, but from what I’ve read this board is mediocre at best.
