? camping in NORCAL

We are looking for a place to RV camp anywhere around Sac/ Norcal. We want to be next to the water for our boats and kids. We are going on a weekend in August so it will be the BUSY season on the lakes. Any suggestions?

clear lake has RV spots right next to the water. spots on Sac river/delta, too. Berryessa has some good sites. Most other lakes/reservoirs will have large "dead zones" and you will have to hike between campsite and water.

Berryessa Has RV camping as well. The nicest place there would be Steele Park.

In the Sierra foothills... Scotts Flat & Rollins lakes have camping on the water. They're ~1hr east of Sac.

Rollins has camping on the water? I thought they didn't. Which campground do you recall?

Kids? Tate is there something we don't know?

Up at Trinity they pull the RV right down to the waters edge. no hook up or facilities but very nice. Dirt roads involved (I think) for the RV only.

Don't get all excited Doug... the friends we are camping with has kids. We wanted to be sure we were on the water so they could play when they wanted without having to pack up and make a special trip to the water to swim.

Spring Ride reminded us why we don't have kids.

Forget about weekends at Mendocino for this year. The sites on the water book out eight months in advance.

Greenhorn campground. I've never stayed there but my inlaws live about 10 minutes away so we're up there often. There's a great sand beach around the corner (to the left) that's great for the kids to play.

Greenhorn is a good place. You can get sites right on the water similar to the Spring Ride with better access to the water. Not sure if those are RV sites. Even the one's off the water are not far away. There is a beach area for the kids. Of course, where there is good camping, there is bad water. Get up early.

Lake Mendocino is lake wakeocino all summer.
Lake Pillsbury,12 miles out a dirt rd good camp sites but no hookups.Best place you'll ever go IMHO,dont camp at Oak flats but the other camp grounds have camp hoasts,great for kids and all water sports.Week days you'll own the lake,glass off all day long.The reason this place is so great is?Its 12 miles out a dirt rd.

Renee V, greenhorn at rollins is our favorite place to camp, make your reservations for august soon because they book up quick. You will love it! My wife and I our from the San Jose area and spend the better part of our summer towing to rollins. If you go in later part of august look for a white sky supreme and join our crew for a couple of beers. Have fun! Rob & Lisa
