Have any of you tried these cans in the 11 Gallon size?

If so what are your thoughts? Have you come up with a better way, besides taking the boat to the marina or gas station?

I have two of them I use all summer long (my boat stays on a lift year round) I think they work great. They dump gas very fast. You have to get the spout of the gas can in the right spot with yoru gas tank nozzle to make then pour fast and not spill. But fo the price they are hard to beat, plus it's a good warmup lifting and pouring them beofre you ride. And they really hold about 13 gallons like the ad says.

They use them constantly in motorsports. Any stock car refueling is done with them.
You have to be a little careful of the spout and there is a lot of air in them so you don't want to store gas for more than a week in the can.

They work great and fast. You can get a plunger type valve for the end of them that let's you turn it upside down and not drop any gas until you insert it into the tank opening.

I have the 11 and 5 gallon one's. Work's great bringing the gas down to my dock and bringing them on houseboat trips!

Hey notidad,
do you remember where you purchased them and the plunger valve you mentioned?

I almost snagged a Todd gas caddy last summer.
Hey D Dub, get the 30 gallon for the Rickert's dock! You'll have the one and only fuel dock on Goodwin.

Gosh that was 15 years ago when I was desert racing bikes. I got it with the can at a place in San Bernadino (So Cal).
It looked like this but had a hose between the can and the spout.

Keep in mind that gas weighs ~6.8 pounds per gallon, so an 11 gallon can is going to weigh in over 75 pounds.

Not a problem if the distance you have to carry it is from the truck back to the trailer. A little different situation if you have to carry it from the parking lot down to the lake.

"Quick dump" is great if the filler will take it that fast AND the tank is that empty. It can lead to some major spills if the above is not true.

Rod is correct on creating some spill issues under a few scenarios but none worse than filling up at the gas station. I knwo my boat doens't have the shutoff that my truck does. the weight is noe that bad because of the handle design, you can get a good grip on it with tw hands.

yeah going with the 30 gal it's an easy trip from the truck to the dock and the weight shouldn't be an issue. it will be nice for the boats and waverunners.anything is better than dealing with the idiot's at the launch.

Handling the Hunsaker 11 gallons is beeaach. i don't use it anymore - too hard to carry to the end of my dock (96 feet).

I may be willing to buy the old cans that people don't use. Looking for the 11 gallon ones. if you are in So.Cal I could pick them up. I don't think you can ship them with the smell of gas (HAZ-MAT). If willing to trade for weight I rather do that. I don't know where LAK lives but he should have first dibs on them.

For those of you looking at the one on wheels with the crank pump, be cautious. It is a bit expensive (I guess that is relative), but I used to work at a go kart track and they used those. The internals of the pump were not made very well and it leaked, or would lose pressure and you would have to crank it a million times to make gas flow. Granted, we were probably using them a lot more than they would be used for recreational purposes. my .02
