Planning on taking the boat to McCovey cove thursday night for the giants game. Anybody done this before? Any tips? Looks like we'll be launching right around the corner at the Bay View Boat Club. Anybody ever done this before? Look for us on TV if your not at the game. You won't be able to miss us with the twister'd Malibu! lol
are powerboats allowed in that area? I dont watch too many giants games, but I only recall seeing kayaks and canoes in there.
also, can you please load it down with the talent that is usually on board for the Las Tablas weekends?? thank you for your consideration.
Unfortunately I don't have any advice, but years ago ryan lemons had a wakeskating shot in wbm at that spot...rodrigo might have even taken the photo...so some riding has gone down there.
Train, unfortunatley this will be me and my pops and my buddy and his dad, just the guys! But....if the Giants make the series, I'll deck the boat out with the finest go-go dancers the city can offer and put on a show on in the cove, promise! lol Guess you need to root for the giants to win! lol
when i worked at copes we did a boat giveaway promo with fox sports, i was the lucky guy who had to spend EVERY home game covered by foxsports in the boat in the cove. i consider myself an expert on the subject as i would leave santa clara around 5, be in the water anchored in my designated spot by 6:30 and be home by 11 several times a week, all summer long, mostly by myself. I too launched at Bay View and usually got hasseled by the yacht clubbers (they think it is THEIR ramp) def. dont try to use their bathroom. the ramp is pretty slick especially at night, not really a big deal with launching as it is pretty short and not very steep, just be careful walking around on it. also, they do get some rollers from the bigger ships in the channel, coming in one night i didnt notice a set and it "surfed" the boat into the trailer pretty hard.
in the cove, i got searched for safety gear registration etc almost every time i was out there even though i was recognized on site by the coast guard they still checked me out. it is colder than you think it will be, i have spent many a night on a boat, near water etc, the wind blows straight down the inlet into the cove. also, the cayak guys are a little loopy to say the least.
the best thing i figured out is that there is a very large guest dock at the marina right behind the park, several times i left the boat tied up and spent some time at momo's for dinner and then headed home. never once did have a problem. guest dock is at the far side of marina from the park. let me know how it goes.
lastly, if you venture out into the bay be mindful of the current, it pulls VERY strong under the bay bridge. closest camera is on the corner of the upper deck, if i remember correctly you should anchor in line with the foul pol for the camera guy to have the best angle on you.
Thanks for the info Jeff. Where did you park? I notice there is a parking lot for trailers next to Bay View, is that open to the public and do you remember how much it is?
i used the lot at bayview, at the time it was free and i never had any issues, its actually pretty convenient to get out of the city after the game even with a trailer.
Had a great time at the game, will other then we lost. Here's a few photos. By the way. Ramp was free and parking cost just .97 cents! lol Lot is free after 5:30 and theres a maxium charge of $10 for the day!
Water police where real cool and only yelled at our neighbor for playing his speakers to loud during commercial breaks. I guess they could hear the stereo inside the stadium! lol
Anybody reconize the boat to our left? Its greg! lol
