cut in with a super agressive toeside edge, slam the board into the wake to trip it, tuck your head, grab indy! Land on your feet.

Stay in your ball (tuck) position a little longer, most people when learning this trick tend open up to early and it stops your rotation and you land on your heels or butt. What joe said, you have to over rotate this trick a little to land on your toes.

Definitely try to over rotate and throw it as big as possible, i land mine every time i go big and take it up, its when i don't get enough speed or pop when i under rotate. Good Luck!

grabbing indy - or at least attempting - helped me, keeps you in the tuck position longer

You're probably opening early because you can't see the landing (unless you take it really big ). It's normal. Next time it feels good in the air, keep your shoulders moving forward over the board at the end of the trick. Don't try to fully over rotate it, as that may end in disaster. I scorpioned pretty bad a long time ago when I took it too far.

I agree with others though, edge hard, chest up off the wake, then duck your head and shoulders to get the rotation going.

and look toward the shoreline as you come around...not at the boat.
