I rode for 2-3 years with out much progression, then started to try stuff the 3rd year, one lesson behind a malibu proved I could go w2w, then we got a 04 lsv, and now i have hs and ts w2w.

About a month...but I'm still not getting the air I want...think some extra ballast to kick up a little bigger wake...we have a 99 outback.

About two years, but I didn't really get serious about riding until this year.

I did it my first time out, but I had been riding the cables for a week or 2 before I got behind a boat.

It was my third or fourth time out behind an I/O with no tower. i went with two buddies of mine and the rule was you couldn't get back into the boat until you fell so hard that the others could hear the slap of your body against the water. That day hurt so bad. But after all was said and done i had learned to go wake to wake.

Took me two summers, but was only riding once a month or so, and behind a direct drive ski boat, no tower, and nobody to show me any technique.

Took me about 5 months or so. I had some fantastic coaching. Thanks to Brooksby, Gross and Vandenberg!

it took me about a summer. I got it right at the end of my first summer but it took a little while to get it back after the winter

half a week or so at Powell. Ride six, maybe seven times a day, at least. Thats how long it takes me to do anything. The only time I ever get to ride that much, is at Powell once a summer. It has taken me a long time to get to attempting three's. I hate colorado.

Too long...ask anyone in the crew. The only fun thing about me trying w2w for so long was seeing my crashes (some were very dramatic in appearance and some really did hurt, but they wouldn't let me back in the boat until I tried again). I was trying year round for a year and half.
They are becoming more reliable now, but I am going to have to keep riding through the winter, otherwise, I am sure I will lose them.

Next is a w2w grab. I did one wake grab this weekend. Christmas List: w2w Grab on Christmas Eve run.

I teach a lot of newbies behind my boat and I would say 10-20 runs is the average

I think my problem with the 2 seasons was that I really only had ridden a couple times that first year then last summer I may have went out about 12-15-times but couldnt ride half the time casue of injuries.....not making excuses for my lameness

I grew up on an outboard with wash for a wake. We would always try jumps and 180s off of it. Then we would jump rollers from other boats. Then we got a malibu about a 4 years ago. We couldnt jump the until we realized to shorten the rope to about 60' and add some ballast.

took me half a day just to get up and that was with a full suit on... brrrrrr... From then, i think it was another 4 or 5 times out before I cleared the wake on my old tiny i/o wake.

HEELSIDE or TOESIDE? There is a big difference for most of us mortals.

when I started I didn't even know you could jump the wake. Plus those skurfers were heavy. I would say when I started trying a week or two.

My son Chris stood up on a Hydroslide 2 months short of his 4th birthday. We didn't tell him to do it he just did it on his own. After he got tired of just cruising around he would rail in at the wake (well sort of), launch off it and see if he could land somewhere on the other side. He didn't much care whether he landed on the knee board or not, he just wanted to see how far he could go. That was the summer of 87. He also used to try and jump the wake on his slalom ski later on (of course there wasn't much of a wake there to jump). When he finally got his first wakeboard, an HO Perez, it was pretty much W2W from day one.

Myself I managed to clear the wake after I got a wake 69 and then on about the 3rd time I ate sh*t so bad I couldn't move my head for a week. That was the last time I wakeboarded and I've got to give props it to all you working guys who go out there and beat yourself up doing this! And clearing the wake these days is a little (ha, way) more intimidating. I've slalom skiied for years and the worst crash I ever took was nothing compared to my WB experience. Sorry for all the nostalgia the question just kind of brought back the memories!

Toeside? A lot of riders never do...yet they can pull a backroll and heelside 360. Hmmmmm

w2w did not take long for me, maybe 2nd or third attempt. Mind you that was waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyyyyy back in the day when boards were nearly flat as a pre teen girls chest... With the huge stock wakes and great shapes, and increased wake education available now, I would think it would be so much easier to go w2w quickly... Maybe I am wrong??? Maybe I am jealous??? LMAO

I went to Brent Baum at socalwakeboardinstruction.com last month to learn my toeside w2w. My buddy who went with me learned his heelside w2w at the same time. It was his second season and he got it nailed with Brent.
