I have been reading so many posts about FAE and I have not found a single negative one. This is something I'm strongly considering. Any chance you guys can post back in this thread after installed and let us know your thoughts? I would be using it on a 2007 X-45.

If it makes my stereo louder, then I may consider it as well. FAE seems to be interesting.

Has anyone mounted an FAE on a boat with a fiberglass hull overhang? On my boat, I think I would need to drill holes into the overhang and I'm wondering how that has worked for people who have done it. (I think the FAE has a bracket that attaches to the swim platform on many boats, but I think it will be the hull overhang on mine.)

lakeski - I mounted my FAE to the fiberglass overhang on my boat. It's an older MB. I just drilled up into the trunk and through bolted. I like the fact that there are no additional steps required to remove my swim platform. Great product - even better service.

I have had mine on our 07 Tige 24ve for about a year. Best thing I ever did to a boat. No exhaust smell when surfing, Stereo is way louder with less power required and you can hold a conversation at cruzzing speed with out raising your voice (unless the stereo is blasting. Can't go wrong with FAE.

I've had my FAE for about 6mths. It was an EASY install, I haven't noticed any performance decrease, and it works great. Larry is awesome, he will answer is email, he will call you back and he's willing to spend the time to explain any questions you have. His customer service is second to none. If you surf I'd say it's a "must have" because of the carbon monoxide reduction alone. The fact that it reduces exhaust volume and makes it easier to hear your tunes at 80'(and it does) is just a nice added advantage. I ordered the "quick disconnect" option that allows easy removal of my swim platform, see pic.

Morgan...I put one on my 45 a month or so ago. It's great. I changed up the install though on the cross member. I cut the cross member and welded two 1/2" ss nuts on the end and mounted it in between the platform braces. I'll try and get some pics this weekend.

Thanks Terry. Looking forward to the pics. Not so sure I can install myself; but do have folks around that could probably handle it. Looks like the quick disconnect is a necessary feature for the X-45. Did you get that?

lakeski - is this what you are talking about with the fiberglass integrated swim step? I ended up mounting downward to built in plate. look for the red Supreme in the gallery and you can see how it turned out... http://www.freshairexhaust.com/images/ImageGallery.html

Hey Sparky, how's the one you crafted up? Is there a big difference in sound? We surf a lot too, does this help to redirect the fumes?

>>We surf a lot too, does this help to redirect the fumes? Yes it does, check out this link to the underwater view http://www.briarcliff.us/video/FAE_Underwater-256K.wmv And also check out the FAE web page http://www.freshairexhaust.com/ there's a ton of information there. Or better yet give Larry a call, nice guy and he can answer your questions. I'm not affiliated with FAE in any way, I'm just a satisfied customer

Has anyone done a before and after rpm vs speed graph? Seems like there would have to be some drag induced with one of these things.

Waylon, I can't stress enough how much quiter the boat is. We havn't taken up surfing behind the boat yet but I'm sure you would not smell a thing that close in. The exhaust comes up behind you. Tower speaks are much clearer at 75 feet as well. When you gonna take me up on them pulls you got coming?

Didn't read the whole thread. I just installed an FAE on my boat and it is kick ass. It really quiets the boat down and no exhaust smell! Worth every penny!

Morgan, I did not get the quick disconnects for mine. It's an easy install but takes a little time. A good two hours is plenty though.

Sparky, Oh yes, I will be taking you up on that offer. Let me check with the wife, maybe Aug 9 or 10th? Where do you usually ride these days? I also want to check out your version of the FAE.

Waylon, sounds good. Where we go just depends. We could do Berryessa but the Putah Creek ramp will only be open till August 12th. Not sure about the other ramps.

Here's a good Laugh I called Correct craft and asked if they had done any research about this product and they said that recommend that you stay at least 20 feet away from the back of the boat to avoid the exhaust fumes....
