Well, the reason im askin, is im about to start workin on a new wake film, and i want to bring a few riders down from northern cal to shoot down here and marine stadium is perfect...so if anyone has a nice setup and would be willing to help out, gas and beers would be paid....

Get ahold of the long beach wakeboard team or watersports warehouse. There team practices in the marina and they have a boat. Good people too

you know the marine stadium is salt water, right? wakes are smaller in salt water so i'm not sure it's the perfect spot especially if you're bringing people down.

I shot in some salt water for my film and it seemed to work out fine. Larry was actually one of the riders.

Gordie -

Whats up man, how have things been?

Dale's sacked out SAN threw a monster wake when we used to ride in Long Beach.

just to clear things up, i said "smaller." that doesn't mean that the wakes are small no matter what. if you bring a sacked out boat to long beach, you could definitely get a big wake. but, if you were to take the same boat with the same weight set-up to a fresh water lake, the wake will definitely be bigger.

Salt will also make the wake a bit firmer and your landings as well.

Does anyone ride down there that happens to have a newer malibu boat?

salt water is more dense, the wakes will be smaller but it pops harder. also the landings are harder

Gordie-

Happy new year to you and the family as well. I do have some plans and will let you and Larry know soon.

Kyle -

Thanks a lot. Pretty much all the AZ stuff at Firebird was salt. The location with the bleachers and billboards in the background. Im not sure how much salt, thats a Gordie question. Good luck with the film.

There's more salt in firebird than L.B. marine.

that's why i don't like riding in salt...my old knees can't take the landings!

Gordie, we're doing well! antbug and i were thinkin' of riding on monday. we'll see how work goes. maybe i'll get up early, do my work, then go ride.

hey Kyle, my name is Tony. I'm on the Long beach state wakeboard team. we ride at the stadium, it's a sweet spot. We have a Calabria pro-V that throws a pretty sweet wake. we keep the boat there at the stadium, we could prolly help you out
Old     (wakekid11)      Join Date: Jul 2003       01-21-2007, 12:51 AM Reply
the marine stadium isn't completely salt water either. some fresh water flows into it too. but yeah, the wake isn't super huge, but it definately has a harder kick to it and pops off the wake harder, and yeah the landings are a lil firmer too

tony that would be amazing...it would be rad to come check out the setup next time you guys ride...
