What is the best way to build a spool without welding it

+2, However I agree with Zimmerman because, we just built a winch, with essentially the EXACT same spool as pictured above, except we used giant grinding plates instead of pizza pans. Anywho, with 600 feet of line, the crosbars are starting to twist and get a little crooked. I would imagine though, that if you had more line, that would greatly ease the pressure on the spool. If I were you, I would build something like the one pictured, but at least tack weld everything in place.

just go to a place that builds trailers or something like that and ask them to weld it up for you... they should do it do a few bucks... it it will be a lot stronger then just bolting it.....

the bolts will work if that all you can do tho!!

FYI- I did weld this up... but It could have run without IMO.

alright is there any was to bore out something to be 1-1/8 inch. preferably a grinding disk.
