Is the Malibu 247 a good boat? Hows the wake compared to a VLX?

It is a great boat. Takes a little more weight to get it really big but absolutely is one of the best I have been behind. With the power wedge can really adjust the steepness and has a huge transition & landing zone.

How much weight are we talking to get really big?

I have ridden behind a 247. It had a mid size wake and we put a lot of weight in it. I don't really remember how much but probably 3 fat sacks. The bigger the hull the more weight it takes to sink it down to make a big wake.

hmmmm Andy, you have a point. ha ha ha

My friend Justin has one that they loaded out pretty good this weekend and it was HUGE. 1250lb stock ballast, 1000 triangle in the front, two 650lb bags in rear locker, 7 people and the wedge.

It get good with just the stock 1250 and three extra sacks and 3 people though.

Personally I like it better when it is really loaded down. Of course to get an XStar good you have to really load it down also but I have only been behind a slammed XStar one time, all the other times I was not terribly impresssed.
