The only thing I see are the rods for your spool are pretty thin. We used a similar set up and the rope bent the rods in the middle to the point of almost breaking. I think they were 1/4". We stepped it up to 1/2" and it works much better.

yes brett i have thought about the strength of the bars and i dont think they will be enough to hold but if/when they brake ill upgrade! i just got a good deal on the metal!

the more line you have the less pressure you have on the bars... just get 1000 feet... 1000 feet is badass

I got a 1000 feet for mine from Seattle Marine. Its like 7/64 crab line or something... but we used on our other winch and love it :-) Between Pizza Pans and crab line I'll be able to shred and cook a nice meal now and then!

Looks good bro. What ratio are you running without a TC? I'm running a Comet 30 series converter and my gear ratio is 4:1. I'm hoping with a 6 horse Honda it will be fine but my lack of experience with gearing these things is a little worrying.

im working on a chain tensioner right now ill post a pic tonight after i get off work and finish it! the tensioner is gunna be frickin dope too!!! youll see lol

As for the gear ratio am not sure.... A few guys on a other site said i would be fine just using a clutch like that so im trying it. It has a 12t and 60t on the spool... If i can find rope local ill let you know how it does this sunday!!

David... that's the same line. It's super money too... real small and strong as hell. Plus the blue looks cool :-)

CZ- 12tx60t would be 5:1
How many HP on the motor?

I think I may have a friend with a motor willing to sacrifice. He is is willing to weld and buy parts, but I am clueless about what is happening between the motor and the spool. Can anyone point me to some more resources for transmission/gear reduction/plans? I have seen a couple links and searched some, but need more. PM's are great too. Thank you!

Where did you find the motor at? or did you have it around already?

I got my briggs off my go-kart and got the Honda off a pressure washer.

Trying to get rid of the Briggs since the Honda runs better:
