I've had similar symptoms twice (not counting drained batteries). The first was a bad slave solenoid, not the solenoid down on the starter but the small one up top near the circuit breaker. Mine's a Mercruiser and not an Indmar but I believe Indmar engines have them too. Open the engine and trace the source of the "click" when you try and start it, if its up top it's probably the slave solenoid, if it's down near the starter it would be the starter solenoid. The other time the motor was hydrolocked, the starter would engage but couldn't compress the water that had gotten in the cylinders. Pull your spark plugs out and see if any water comes out of the cylinders.
