Just wondering what the best combo would be for surfing. It has the hard tanks in the back(300?)and the center bag(600?) with the wedge. Not possitive on those weights, but im looking at getting some more sacks. Would the two 400lbs fly high sacks work with one in the rear locker and one on the seat. Or would it be better to get a bunch of those 85 lbs bricks to move around.(or would they be a pain filling).

Terry I think your boat is similar to mine. 1998 vlx. I have a fly high inboard surf (750 lbs)sac on the left rear, 650 lb integrated bow sac, and, wedge down, and a slight left turn and I get a great surf wake. I also have an extra 400 lb Fat Sac if I have limited people in the boat. I sell the Fly High fat sacs and can help you out if you like. MaxWake.com max_wake@comcast.net

Terry, I have a 2005 Vride which is the same hull as the 2002 VLX. Fill the hard tank on the surfside, empty the opposite rear tank, fill up the center ballast. Get 3 400 Fly High sacks, 1 in rear locker, 1 along surfside cockpit seat, and one in the bow area on the surfside. These bags fit perfectly in all 3 areas. You might want to tie off the one in cockpit to the tower, so it doesn't roll off the seat and onto the floor. Wedge down and starting speed around 10-11 mph or until the top of wake cleans up. Works on my Vride like a charm. Total weight 2000-2100 pds.

I'm thinking that anytime we tried this we never had enough weight in the bow. I was always told to put most your weight in the rear surfer side. Once in a while we would get a decent wake but never could get it consistant. Both of you seem to be weighting the boat almost equal on the surf side with just alittle extra in the rear. I think our speed maybe part of the problem. We have to go by the rpm because our speedometer hardly moves at that speed, also our perfect pass won't set that low.

The 2005 Malibu Ride with LCR 320 runs at 2700 rpm with the stated weight configuration. You can see video of the wake at this site. Click on the line that says New Video Here. There is 4 short videos. 3 of the Darkside and 1 of regularside.http://lol-butter-effect.blogspot.com/
