Hey, I have some kids at school that are trying to tell me that wakeboarding is a event and not a real sport. Being a wakeboarder myself, and a someone that stands for what they belive, and don't back down,I told him was wrong. Other kids started to back him up. I am asking you to please post a short message supporting are sport telling all these kids they are wrong , and are outnumbered by a lot.

how is it not a sport. the pros compete against one another to determine a winner. and all of the other people that do it do it for the fun of it.

Wakeboarding is definately not just an EVENT! It is a competative sport and even some college ski teams are recognizing that fact by adding competative boarding to their roster. Have any of these kids ever watched the X-Games or any wakeboarding tournaments? Probally not...in my opinion, they're missing out on a fast-growing sport and probally shouldn't be boarding in the first place with that kind of attitude.

I would even go so far as to say it's not just a sport, but pretty much a lifestyle/culture, just like surfing, snowboarding and skateboarding. As a sport, it is probably more pure than most mainstream sports. Hockey - on ice shifts are usually less than 1 minute max. Football - how long is a typical play? 10-15 seconds? Golf - you get to ride in a cart and toss back the beers. I have played lots of sports in my life, and I have never been worked harder than when I ride. No one can tell me that wakeboarding is not a sport

John, here's what you do: get these farmboys to put up or shut up. Take them out riding, so they can find out first hand how much energy and skill it takes. That ought to straighten them out, unless they are just too dense.

It's like riding moto on a track. Put that person behind the boat for awhile and see how they feel the next day.

Next class, sit them down, bring in the TV, and make them watch Natural Born Thrillaz, after Harris' part, no one can say wakeboarding isn't a sport, or a cool one at that.
