We at the Canyon Lake Wakeboard Club are gearing up to having to say good bye to one of our best. Pro Womens rider Gretchen Hammarberg is moving back home to Idaho. It pains me to see this happen but when you truly care for someone, you want whats best for them. Even when it is out of OUR comfort zone. Gretchen Hammarberg is a class act, her work ethic is amazing. This girl can put together a comp in foot high weeds after working on it for 12 hours at 8 at night in the rain and cold, with a smile on her face and look great doing it. And remember, this is all volunteer Gretchen has been instrumental in the success of our club and contests this year. Having the wisdom that two heads work better than one, bringing in Mark Pulver as co coordinator. Between them, putting together our sponshorship packages that have been a key to our success as a club. She was instrumental (along with Cheryl) in putting together the proposal for our club to start the first womens open division and organizing our Learn to ride day for girls only. She is an awesome advocate for women in wakeboarding and the promotion of the sport in general. Gretchen is always there with a kind word (or a homemade birthday cake) after a hard day. She can brighten the day with just her presence. Canyon Lake Wakeboard Clubs loss is Idahos gain. (sniff, sniff) She will be sorely missed by all of us (especially me) Gretchen may the Lord be with you in all you do. I will hold you to your return visit promises (yes, the contests) and you are always a phone call and an email away. We love you!
