I just purchased a 1999 Super Air Nautique. I am regular footed and want to set it up for surfing. It has factory rear ballast about 400lbs, and I'm planning on plumbing another 400lbs into the ski locker. What kind of sacs should I get and where should I place them. It already looks decent with the stock rear ballast and I'm excited to see what kind of wake I can get. Thank you in advance for the advice.
Perfect, I just ordered two 400lb sacs. I figured one for the locker on top of existing hard tank and one in front of the locker on starboard bench. My boat did not come with a ski locker ballast so I purchased a 375lb sac for that also. I wonder how hard it would be to plumb that one in? I don't have a gauge for it. I also bought a 4'6" liquid force board.
Strong89... I have the same boat you have... Let me know how your weighting attempts work out. What speed seems to be working for you? I've been wakesuring (O'brien 5' Alias) several times now and can't figure how to free ride. I'm running a similar ballast set up too, minus the locker sac.
I'm going out with the new ballast this weekend. I'll take some pics and let you know how it works. I will be adding 1175lbs to stock ballast and will have plenty of people to shift around as well.
Wow Mark, that is a lot of weight. I can hardly manuver the boat with only 1175 in total ballast. It's also a real pain to avoid taking a roller over the bow when going back for a fallen wakesurfer. I don't put any ballast in the bow, just people.
