I'm trying to figure out what my 08 23 LSV burns for gas per hour. I know it depends on how full the ballast is and who you are pulling as well as what speed, does anyone know any figures or a place where I could find it.

6 gallons per hour as a general rule.

6 gallons per hr as a general rule? What about loaded/dry? Wedge/no wedge? I was hoping the buyers guide would have this in it this year with the gas prices where they were.

It's all about the rpm's. My Launch SS runs at 27000 rpms fully loaded and my friend's Moomba XLV runs 3500 rpms with stock ballast, both running at the same speed. I get tremendously better fuel economy with the same year/engines. However, his wake is SO MUCH BIGGER. Bigger wake=more gas, no way around it.

With extra weight and wedge, I burn at least 8 GPH on a VLX with a 340. Malibu's are not the most fuel efficient. Add the wedge and it get's a lot worse.

Around 5 gph at 20mph empty ballast 1-2 people
6-7 gph ballast full and 5-6 people in boat
8-9 gph ballast full, 5-6 people, wedge down

I don't get why their is such a big concern with gas mileage? If one paticular boat gets 1gph less than another does it make you not purchase that boat? I have yet to see a truely loaded wake boat that gets good mileage. It is just like saying my ford gets better than your chevy towing. I think those numbers don't really exist.

I'm thinking about starting lessons for beginners and maybe a small business pulling people if they don't want lessons or are better than me. I'm taking gas mileage into account for pricing. I know liability insurance is a whole different issue but that's why I was curious. I'm trying to get the scene around Lake Winnipesaukee in NH a little bigger.

Lessons are tough to price out. If you have any competition in your area you will have to be similarly priced.

SANTE 230 w/ZR6=3.55 ave. a week at Lake Powell. Thats not bad. 9 gph when gas was high, no wonder you never saw these boats on the lake this last season.
