A three-stage rocker has three distinct rocker zones. This usually means there is a flat spot in the center of the board, however there are a few boards, like the Double Up Nelson, that have some rocker in the middle, just not as much as the tip and tail. This rocker line is often referred to as “progressive three-stage.” It looks very similar to a progressive rocker, but there is a line between the three zones. A progressive rocker is just that. If you look at the edge of the board it is parabolic shaped, unlike the semicircular shape of a continuous rocker. It looks like a progressive three-stage, but there is no line where the rocker suddenly increases.
