I am wanting to put a tower on my boat (Fakeboard boat of course). I have researched quite a few different companies and am wondering what anyone's view or take is on the universal towers as opposed to one fabed to my boat. The universals seem to be less expensive, but I'm not sure about the bolting together of the top portion to the legs. Any help or insight would be awesome.

What kind of boat? How much is it worth? The
universal towers don't fit as good and have more joints and connections to move and loosen. They are also considerably cheaper. If you want to just get by get one. If you want something for long term get a custom fit.

It's a 20 foot Seaswirl open bow, worth 10K maybe. After looking at the Ariel on the other "Fakeboard" boat posted last week it looks pretty nice. Ultimately, love to buy a new boat, but until my 21 month old is ready to fully enjoy it and learn to board and ski I would rather spend money in other places.

We recently replaced our tower on our 98 Tige PRE 2100wt and we initially looked at the universal towers but eventually ended up with a custom tower. Keep in mind we did have the issue of using and/or covering the holes from the old tower so that added a bit of complexity. In the end we decided that we'd keep the boat for around 5 years and the look of the old tower and the universal towers was not ok with us so we opted for the custom tower. We were limited by the holes from the old tower but I do recall some of the pricer universal towers (still considerably cheaper than custom) actually having very nice lines to them - they just didn't fit our mounting distance requirements. I looked at probably every tower out there during our like 6-9 month search so I understand what you're debating.

Best of luck!!!

We went with the Samson Sports Razor tower with built in swivel board racks and we LOVE IT!!! The people at Samson Sports were super nice to work with as well!! Excellent customer service!!!!!!!!

So you have a 2-3 year window for the Seaswirl.
IMO I wouldn't put a lot of money in it. I don't think you will get it back at resale. Save the money for your dreamboat.
