Well did your folks decide on red or did it just come with it? Seems odd to have a red platform on a boat that has no red anywhere else... Im curious too

Anyway, here are some stats... My old boat, with a normal gas engine, fully weighted, was getting 10-12 gallons per hour (GPH) This new Diesel Engine, pushing the fully weighted X-Star, is getting 4-5 GPH. Also, the boat is much quicker from 0-23 than any other boat I have been in (FULLY WEIGHTED BOATS OF COURSE) Heres some more quick facts: The engine gives off no harmful fumes, so you can wakesurf all day, and not pass out. Also, it has a trubo on it, so the boat seems slow when u first hit the throttle, but then with or without weight, it jumps out of the water. It is also about the same weight as the Big block taht comes stock in X-stars. I am veryy happy with it. I will never go gasoline again. ---CHRIS

Chris, that is the coolest thing i have ever seen. I am assuming that it was a swap, if so how difficult was that to pull off.

4-5? you mean 14-15? did they have to do anything to the tranny to suit the diesel motors... they have a lot of torque...

no no, I mean four to five gallons per hour. My buddies Malibu 23 LSV is burning 13 GPH, and again, my old boat was burning 12. So this is a huge improvement It really is amazing. There is company based in St. Pete, FL called Mastry Engine Center, and they outfitted the boat with the Diesel. It uses the same Transmition as the big block, and works perfect with it. Also, the engine is intercooled, so I use it in saltwater everyday without any problems. Heres a funny story about these engines. I went into Mastry Engine Center today, and there was a boat with my engine in it, and it was being serviced. I found out that this boat, was a Parasail boat, and was in for its 6,000 hour scheduled maintnence. Nothing was wrong with this engine, it had ran for 6,000 hours so far, and was just in their to change fluids and zincs.

Nah I picked the colors, I like its not like any others and I like black white and red. Personally I think it adds some style to the boat.

Chris, I dont know if you could do this without MC's permission. But you should start a dealership and swap all the engines.

Chris, what model/HP is that Yanmar? Although that would be really nice to have, my dad swapped out his twin 440 Chryslers out of his 40 tolly and went to twin 315hp 6 cyl yanmars, it would be hard to justify the price. I suppose if you planned on keeping the boat for a long time it would pay off. When my dad bought his he paid around 20k each which included the transmissions. That was also a wholesale price as we are in that industry. Awesome engines though.

I wonder if you could order a MC without the engine? But then they probably won't warranty anything.

Brett: Yes this is the 315 HP turbo Diesel from Yanmar. Diesels are not that much more expensve than a regualr big block though, only a couple grand, and it pays off in no time. It really is a great engine LEO: Who needs a mastercraft engine warrenty???? With these Yanmars, you get a 2000 hour engine warrenty!!

Mike Parker - Is that a chrome Mastercraft logo on the transom? If it is, it looks a lot better than the drip molded decals... Here's our 06 X1, 220 hours on her up here in Michigan! (Message edited by wakeslife on October 01, 2007)

Roddyrod, Yes, those are raised chrome lettering on both the sides and the transom. I really like the look better than the drip mold.
