I am finally buying the boat of my dreams this week and wanted to get some input from you guys. There is lots of cleaning info strewn about in different threads, but I was hoping that we could compile a comprehensive list of what someone needs to clean a boat inside and out. I'm talking upholstery, carpet, gelcoat, metal/chrome bits, swim platform, etc. Preferred brands would also be helpful.

Carpet and Vinyl- LA's Totally Awesome from the dollar store. The yellow liquid in the clear bottle with red lettering.
Vinyl- 303 Aerospace Protectant
Teak- Sand paper, elbow grease followed up by several coats of teak oil
Stainless Steel and Aluminum (Non anodized)- Mother's Mag Polish and/or Eagle One Nevr-Dull
Gelcoat Stains- Anything with oxalic acid. I prefer to buy something labeled as a hull cleaner. Others have reported good success with toilet bowl cleaner
Heavy Gelcoat Oxidation- 3M Finishing Material and Compound with a rotary buffer
Light Gelcoat Oxidation- 3M Finesse it II with a rotary buffer
Wax- I like Meguiar's Tech wax more than any of the marine specific products that I've tried.

I'll allow others to recommend specific brands as I may be slightly biased Don't overlook a large stock of quality microfiber towels. The yellow type sold at costco are top notch. Also, do not use any type of fabric softener when washing them.

The towels you use can make or break the cleaning experience and likewise make the highest quality cleaning products leave less than desireable results.
