Back roll is typically everyone's first because the rotation just make sense in the early stages of wakeboarding. Tantrum's, once learned, is always the most consistent and easiest invert from there on.

Tantrum

Heel front

Scarecrow

I can not get around on a backroll to save my life. I don't even try them anymore...

There is no such thing as a heelside front roll.

It is called a mexican roll.

Toeside frontrolls arent too difficult if you have a solid toeside wake 2 wake

Is the front roll or sacrecrow easier? I am going to attempt one this weekend.

Heres My bag of tricks:
Backroll
Tantrum
Toe Front 180

Tantrum and backroll are pretty much what everyone tries and lands first. Start with that and you will get comfortable with popping correctly and being inverted. Once you feel comfortable with that, then start learning some TS verts

he didn't say heel front "roll"...he said "heel front".....i'm sure he meant "flip"...right dustin?

back to topic: i agree with paul...everyone said backroll, backroll, backroll....so i fought it till i got it....but now that i have a tantrum, it's so much easier for me. just try both and see what feels more natural.

derrick: personally, i don't think one is easier than the other...but i do think the landing on the front roll is harder to see and get consistent. i always have to commit to over-rotating so i can get back to my toe edge. good luck....

Matt, theres no such thing as a frontflip. heelside rolls are tip-tail rotations, but you are right, the rotation of a front edge-edge flip is called a mexican backroll.

I don't have any flips yet, I have 3 semi consitant 3's, but still no tantrum or backroll, the flip I've gotten the closest on is a scarecrow, I think it's the book that says with every spin you add to an invert, the less flip you have to do, or something along those lines...

The tantrum was the easiest for me. Once of get the idea of the "trip-flip" edge it's pretty natural.

I never said that there was such a thing as a a frontflip, I just said that there is no such thing as a heelside front roll.

there is a heel side front flip. tons of people do them. it's a cartwheel rotation.

Know what your saying before you say it.
Heelside frontflip is the opposite rotation of a backroll; A cartwheel spinning the opposite dirrection of your backroll.
Matt your right theres no such thing as a heel side front roll but he didn't say frontroll.

there is a "other" front flip, its the same as a toeside front flip, pop twist and straight front flip, byerly does the toe and so does lyman, cant think of hand who does the heel other front, it was more popular back in the day.

I don't think there's anything basic/easy about inverts.
I've tried'em, I get lost, I crash, it hurts.
