Are they kidding on the $$$$$? $640 for a platy? That's nuts. I know no one pays that, but DAMN!

Very cool and thanks.

Absolute says they were the first to grow a center spine. My 03 Byerly has one. In fact, the new Absolute looks alot like my Byerly on the bottom but with an abrupt continuous rocker, not a 3-stage.

Just sayin.

The Absolute has been around since 02.

And there it is.......

I rode an 05 Absolute and really really liked it. Only complaint was that it required a longer edge setup without a cupped rail. Pop and feel were awesome though. Great board lineup, great graphics. I want one.

That is 120 more on msrp than last year. Is that the change we are going to see on the shelf. I hope they are kidding. I can not see paying close to 800 for board and bindings.

06 Absolute Platinum MSRP 620.00
07 Absolute Platinum MSRP 640.00
The 06 prices on that list are not msrp, they are the minimum add prices.

C-Dub always has a high list but then when you get to the shops the price is competitive. Think about it, its got a super advanced core and tech. At least you are getting something other than a lighter foam.

Jeff, do you mean ad?
Old     (innov8)      Join Date: May 2005       09-20-2006, 10:57 AM Reply
Yup thats what most shops sell them for 519.99 thats the minimum add price.
We sell all our boards and bindings at the minimum add price as well.

How many have you broken, Joe?

LOL.... I think that all depends who you are. Most riders will go their whole life without breaking a board.

Ooohhhh buuuurrrrnnnn. You got me good Joe! I have to watch out for this guy, he's too quick for me.

Joe try a Platinum of your beloved Marius and tell me its not worth it. I've been riding mine since last September and its in great shape. Thats after I dropped it and cracked the core etc. in March. You know how I ride, I'm not taking it easy.

What happened to the Tattoo or Factor mold?

I also noticed a lot of other manufacturers are skipping the 142, 143 size and going to 144. Wonder why that is.

The Tattoo became the Factor. The Factor is not being continued for 2007. The Faction is taking the Factor's place...new shape, but still in a 136 and 144 size range.

I don't think that it matters what trick you were doing Joe, just that you landed in the flats without finesse!

I have been riding the plati's for 4 years. I broke one. I'm not small guy, and I have a few tricks I take into the flats too.
Old     (antbug)      Join Date: Jul 2004       09-20-2006, 11:49 AM Reply
I was there the day Joe broke that board and let me tell you... it was a HUGE double grabbed 180 into the flats. It looked like everything was all good on the landing and then BAM! faceplant. He snapped it right in half. It was a good laugh for all of us in the boat.

I'm not talking smack about the cost. I know no one pays that, but the numbers just looked so high.

Did I tell you that I have a new Transcend at home.... anyone riding Saturday?

Joe - What are you doing telling people you broke my board? You were supposed to keep that on the down low...(I hope this is the face icon for "duh")

Chris, '07 Kink is essentially a new Flame but with an updated top and bottom, a bit more rocker, and an extra layer of glass all making it a bit stiffer, more poppy and a tad faster. So it will be updated, but hopefully as well liked as the Flame.

ok i can add to this damn that is a very high price even at ad prices..

the msrp was 590 on my 05 platty 141 and i paid way under ad ,i wont reveal what i paid as not to get anybody in trouble and no it wasnt late in the season it was around march of 05 when they barely were released..so i wont be buying any for over 400 ever..no board is worth that..

Now that being said i broke that 05 platty on a crow in the flats about 7 months after i bought it and it never touched a slider and i weigh 165 and dont go real big..

explain that :-)
Old     (dakid)      Join Date: Feb 2001       09-20-2006, 2:15 PM Reply
you forgot to mention you're 165, but about 4 foot 6.

Did CWB send you an 06 to replace it Bill?
Old     (bill)      Join Date: Feb 2001       09-20-2006, 3:27 PM Reply
no they didnt i went to my local shop and they gave me a replacement 06 off the shelf..it took about 45 mins for them to email cwb send the pic and get the ok..

that was nice but still i was just adding to the abs platty breaking a lot..it was the first and only board ive broken in 8 years ...
Old     (scws)      Join Date: Sep 2004       09-20-2006, 4:41 PM Reply
The Ab Plats this year have a new top shape...a little bit of extra thickness on the top sheet to the front of your front foot and the rear of your rear foot to hopefully fix the "weakness" where the majority have been breaking.
Old     (jon4pres)      Join Date: May 2004       09-20-2006, 5:29 PM Reply
What does this mean,

'07 Kink is essentially a new Flame but with an updated top and bottom

To me that is an entirely different board.

Its a shame that a wakeboard has to cost over $600....shame, shame, shame!
Old    alanp            09-20-2006, 7:50 PM Reply
ive often though wakeboards were relatively inexpensive however they have been progressively more expensive over the years. i think with the increaded prices i think people will start to demo boards more and i think people will be a little more reluctant to update their decks every year. i went through a period last year where i rode a ton of boards because they were so inexpensive, plus i dont have a shop within 3 hours of me. that wouldnt have been possible had these boards cost so much. itll be intersting to see what this does to the market. but i guess we are talking about people that drop 50k on a boat without batting an eye so maybe itll just be a ripple.

John, it is still based on the Flame, with some fine tuning and tweaking over what it was as the Flame. I guess you could consider it a new shape.
